Seed Swap
Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020 (9:00 am - 1:00 pm)
Penfield Community Victory Garden will host a Seed Swap and seed-starting workshop on Saturday, January 26, 9:00AM to 1:00PM at Penfield Community Center. Garden designer Carol Soutby will present a slide show of perennials for early spring bloom. Everyone is welcome to bring collected seeds to share as an option too. This event is co-sponsored by Penfield Community Victory Garden and Flower City Garden Network, and is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is requested by emailing: flowercitygardennetwork@gmail.com.

Family Winter Snow Night Out
Friday, Feb. 7, 2020 (6:00 pm - 8:00 pm)
The public is invited to join Penfield Recreation for a Family Winter Snow Night Out on Friday, February 7, 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Harris Whalen Park. Come play in the snow under the February Snow Moon! This unique nighttime experience at Harris Whalen Park will include snow games, building snow sculptures, sledding in the moonlight, snowshoeing or hiking on moonlit trails, refreshments and staying warm by a fire. Participants are asked to bring a flashlight or headlamp for snowshoeing, and a sled for sledding. This event is free and all ages are invited. 50th Annual Penfield Jazz Fundraiser Concerts
Friday, Feb. 7, 2020 (7:30 pm - 10:00 pm)
Grammy Award winner, saxophonist, Jeff Coffin will headline the 50th Annual Penfield Jazz Fundraiser Concerts at 7:30 pm Friday, Feb. 7 and Saturday, Feb 8 in the Penfield High School Auditorium, 25 High School Drive. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and will be available as of Jan. 1, online at www.phsmusic.booktix.com. Jeff Coffin is a globally recognized saxophonist, composer, educator, and is a member of the legendary U.S. rock group, Dave Matthews Band. You may also know him from his 14 years, and 3 Grammy Awards, with the genre-defying Bela Fleck & the Flecktones. Jeff fronts a number of his own groups when not touring with DMB and has released 15+ solo CD's on Ear Up Records. Coffin is known for his passionate and fiery soloing, his melodically driven compositions, his deep involvement with music education, and his continued dedication to the improvisational musical art form of jazz. He is one of the top, in demand, saxophonists in the world as well as a first call studio musician in Nashville, Tennessee, where he has lived since 1991. Jeff is both a Yamaha & D'Addario Performing Artist and Clinician, teaches improvisation at the prestigious Vanderbilt University, authored The Saxophone Book, co-authored The Articulate Jazz Musician, and runs his own record label, Ear Up Records. The Penfield Jazz Fundraiser Concerts have taken place annually for 49 years and have featured many of the world’s finest jazz artists, including Clark Terry, Eddie Daniels, Russell Malone, James Carter, Kevin Mahogany, Regina Carter, Tia Fuller, Jake Shimabakura, Sean Jones, Darmon Meader, Jane Monheit, and many others. Coffin will perform with all the Penfield School District’s jazz groups, including jazz ensembles, jazz choirs, the 100+-piece Studio Orchestra, and Penfield Saxophobia, a multi-aged group of saxophonists performing an original piece of music commissioned specially for the group.
